Hour of Code
Minimize

Every year, code.org hosts a week-long event called "Hour of Code." The purpose of this event is to foster student interest in computer coding. The events have received much press and media attention, with Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and even President Obama promoting participation.  York Suburban School District hosted its own Hour of CODE event during the week of December 5-12. “The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching tens of millions of students in 180+ countries.”  Student engagement was at an all-time high while writing code, and they may continue to access coding activities on our For Student Tab at www.yssd.org.

Check out  http://hourofcode.com/us for more information.

Dress Code
Minimize

 East York Dress Code Reminder

Students are expected to exercise good judgment in the selection of appropriate clothing throughout the school year.  *If clothing is deemed inappropriate, the student will be asked to change into acceptable attire.  Dress code expectations are as follows:

  • Blouses, shirts, and dresses with spaghetti straps (with shoulder straps less than three inches 3” wide) must be covered with a top or jacket at all times during the school day
  • Shorts/skirts need to be an appropriate length.  A good rule of thumb is mid-thigh length or past fingertip length.   Short skirts, short shorts or any display of undergarments are not permitted.
  • Muscle shirts, tops with enlarged arm holes, halter tops,  and bare midriff tops are not permitted.
  •  A student’s footwear needs to be suitable for gym and recess.  Sneakers are the best choice. Flip flops are permitted on non-gym days.

Thank you for your help in reinforcing the dress code expectations.
