Demuth Art Museum

East York Students at the Demuth Museum

Congratulations to sixteen East York third grade students whose artwork was selected to be displayed at the Charles Demuth Museum in Lancaster, Pa, during the month of December 2016.  Educational materials about Demuth were offered by the museum for our benefit.  All third grade students learned about the life and artwork of Demuth and created a watercolor still life based on his style during their art class.  An opening exhibit was offered at the museum on Sunday, December 4, from 1:00-4:00 for all students, parents, and the community to enjoy.  The following East York student’s artwork was featured:  Front Row from left to right: Chase Reed, Cecelia Koloras, Isabella Camacho, Cecelia Thomason, Preston Ilgenfritz, Adin Friedenfeld, Paige Barley, Cambria Rice.  Back row: Jacob Cooper, Cameron Sikora-Nailon, Callahan Harrell, Abigail Williams, Colbie McKenna, Madilyn Forry, Whitley Kamarauskas, Emma Bates.

Buddy Bench

Michael Gilliland built four Buddy Benches for his Eagle Scout project with the help of his fellow Scouts from Troop 54. Matt Miller, principal at Roundtown Elementary, helped Michael coordinate his project patterned after his school's Buddy Bench built by student Christian Bucks. After Michael's project was complete, he decided to donate the buddy benches to all four York Suburban School District Elementary Schools.

Dress Code

 East York Dress Code Reminder

Students are expected to exercise good judgment in the selection of appropriate clothing throughout the school year.  *If clothing is deemed inappropriate, the student will be asked to change into acceptable attire.  Dress code expectations are as follows:

  • Blouses, shirts, and dresses with spaghetti straps (with shoulder straps less than three inches 3” wide) must be covered with a top or jacket at all times during the school day
  • Shorts/skirts need to be an appropriate length.  A good rule of thumb is mid-thigh length or past fingertip length.   Short skirts, short shorts or any display of undergarments are not permitted.
  • Muscle shirts, tops with enlarged arm holes, halter tops,  and bare midriff tops are not permitted.
  •  A student’s footwear needs to be suitable for gym and recess.  Sneakers are the best choice. Flip flops are permitted on non-gym days.

Thank you for your help in reinforcing the dress code expectations.
