Welcome to the York Suburban High School website. As you explore our site, you will quickly learn why our staff and community take great pride in our school! Our high school is continually recognized as one of the most outstanding schools in the area, providing our students with diverse academic and extracurricular experiences. Many of our students engage in pure academic pursuits through our Advanced Placement (AP), College Preparatory Advanced (CPA) and College in the High School (CHS) programs while others pursue a career oriented focus through traditional coursework and through our partnership with the York County School of Technology. Many of our students give back to our community by engaging in service projects, and the majority of our students complement their academic and service work through participation in extra-curricular activities that include academic honor societies, clubs, music organizations, fine arts, and athletic teams. Throughout their experiences, our students are supported by outstanding teachers, coaches, and mentors who are dedicated to ensuring our students meet their full potential.
During the 2012-13 school year we had many successes. 174 seniors commenced on their journeys to college, the workforce, and/or the military when they graduated on June 5th. Over 100 of our students received awards, scholarships, and recognition at the York Suburban High School awards night. Two of our seniors were recognized as National Merit Finalists, and three were recognized as National Merit Commended students. Our senior art students present their artwork at a local gallery exhibit. Nine of our students were recognized as members of District Band, Chorus, and Orchestra, and one student participated in the All-State Jazz Band. Six of our students were recognized as player of the league player of the year in their respective sports and seven of our coaches were recognized as league coach of the year. Our girls swimming coach, Craig Brennan, was recognized as state coach of the year. Thirty-four of our students were recognzed as all-league in their respective level.
At the team level our girls swimming team won a district title and earned a silver medal in the PIAA State tournament! Five of our teams earned League championships. The Marching Band won numerous honors through the Cavalcade of Bands competition. Our musical organization produced an outstanding production of 42nd Street and our Trojan Theatre group produced three outstanding plays.
The students of York Suburban are very fortunate to work daily with a dedicated staff of teachers, assistants, staff, coaches and advisors who are deeply committed to helping students reach their goals. York Suburban has a rich tradition of excellence and our staff and students are continually focused on providing and experiencing the outstanding education that our students will need to face the challenges of and to experience success in the twenty-first century.
