Integrated Pest Management Notification

In accordance with the state regulations mandated by Act 35 and 36, York Suburban School District has implemented an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program within its buildings and grounds.  This program is designed to manage insects, rodents, and weeds and became effective January 1, 2003.

The goal of this program is to manage pests through sanitation, exclusion, and non-chemical devices rather than depending exclusively on pesticides.  IPM uses information about pest life cycles to manage them with the least impact on people and the environment.  Providing a clear and safe environment for our students and staff is the main focus of this program.

It may be necessary, however, in certain situations to apply chemicals in order to manage pests or weeds.  Notices of chemical applications will be posted in the area 72 hours prior and 48 hours after the application.  The applications will be done after school hours.

Parents/guardians of students enrolled within the district may request prior notification of specific pesticide applications made at the schools.  To receive notification, you must be placed on the school notification registry.  If your would like to be placed on this registry, please notify the district, in writing, indicating the notification method desired;  phone, first-class mail, or e-mail address.  You will need to include your phone number, address, and/or your e-mail address, depending upon the method you choose for notification.  A new registry is prepared annually;  therefore, even if you responded in the past, it will be necessary for you to respond each year.  In the event it would be necessary to apply chemicals to control an emergency pest situation, notification will be provided by telephone to any parent or guardian who has requested in writing information or emergency application.

To be placed on the registry, send your name, address, phone number, student (s)' name and building assignments, and e-mail address (if you wish to be notified electronically) to:
