Mission Statement

The mission of the York Suburban school library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information enabling them to be literate life-long learners.  It is supported by sufficient funding and resources provided by the school district.  This mission is accomplished by the library staff in collaboration with the school community:

          by providing instruction to foster competence in aquiring and using information and ideas, and in evaluating information resources;

         by stimulating interest in reading and appreciation of literature through group instruction and individual guidance;

         by providing intellectual and physical access to materials in multiple formats;

         by fostering good citizenship in the use and care of library materials and facilities;

         by working with faculty and staff to integrate library skills within the subject areas; and,

         by working with faculty and staff to design and carry out learning experiences to meet the needs of individual students.
